McCain Ad : "Obama Praising McCain"

The Honest Politician Analysis : This ad from the McCain campaign shows a previous clip made within the senate where Obama was praising McCain and Lieberman for their "leadership" on the subject of a proposed bill that establishes limits for greenhouse gas emissions. In my opinion, this ad does nothing for the McCain campaign and was a total waste of money. If anything it was a good push for Obama showing that he has respect for both sides of the senate. From what I have seen of Obama for the past 2 years, is the type of person he is. He has always been a person who was "hearty in his approbation and lavish in his praise". Speaking of which, there is a book called "How to Win Friends and Influence People" written by Dale Carnegie in the year of 1936 that teaches this principle along with many other positive principles. Dale Carnegie wrote this book based upon previous positive attitudes of US presidents. From what I have seen from Obama, is that he portrays every principle in the book and that's what we need in America - especially in our days of crisis and the lost respect throughout the world. I would not be surprised if he carries this book with him - as if it was his bible. There are updated versions of this book and would highly recommend this book to everyone. NOW GO VOTE!

Obama Ad : "His Choice"

The Honest Politician Analysis :
This ad from Obama focuses on how John McCain has very limited understanding of the economy and his choice of Sarah Palin. This ad starts with quotes from John McCain saying "the issue of economics is not something I've understood as well as I should", "I'm going to be honest: I know a lot less about economics that I do about the military and foreign policy issues. I still need to be educated." and "I might have to rely on a vice president that I select for expertise on economic issues." After the quotes from McCain, it shows a brief clip of Sarah Palin 'winking' during her debate and a final quote from the Obama campaign advising that on November 4th, you get to make your choice. In my opinion this is a very effective ad, as it paints a perfect picture of what the presidency will be like if we have John McCain who has limited economic and foreign policy experience(especially during a time of a financial crisis) and then you have Sarah Palin with "no experience" as his VP. God forbid if something happens to John McCain, and Sarah Palin is sworn in - especially after watching the Katie Couric interviews....Very Scary.

Obama Ad "Don't Let Up"

The Honest Politician Analysis : In this Obama ad released for the web only, releases a video of a biker celebrating way before the finish line and falls off his bike. The other biker who was in 2nd place finishes 1st. The message here is that "we can’t afford to slip up in the final days" and we must fight in the final days by spreading the word to everyone to round up your family and friends to go vote. There will be lineups, heck it might even rain. But lets take a look of the last 8 years with Bush. Do we want 4 more years of that? Voting is your right and a privilege. Let's make history together and make every vote count!

McCain Ad : "Life Savings"

The Honest Politician Analysis : In this latest web ad from McCain (cannot find any more TV spots as he ran out of money - bad budgeting I guess, or was well spent on Palins's clothes) explains the following : "The last eight years haven’t worked very well, have they? I’ll make the next four better. I know your life savings have been hit hard, but we’ll rebuild them. Barack Obama wants to increase taxes on your savings. You can’t afford that. He’s quite a talker. But that’s just bad judgment." Surprisingly enough, this ad was not as negative as his regular ads and "maybe" he has finally come to terms that his negative ads are not working. The only result from the negative ads was that he was dividing the nation. Back to taxes, McCain will continue to tell ALL American people that Obama is planning to raise taxes. What he is not telling you is the Obama is only raising taxes on 5% of the country. That means anyone who is making under $250,000 is getting a tax cut (see Obama's tax plan under the ad "Defining Moment" below). This ad along with many others are very misleading. What McCain's campaign should have focused on was to show true leadership by using "several" economist to come up with a plan to save this economy. When he had noticed that his lone economist Douglas Holtz-Eakin was not producing proper results, he should have spoken with other well known economist such as Warren Buffet(as an example - I know he can't use Buffet as he is with Obama) to provide several options of how to handle this economy. To this day, McCain has still not come up with a plan and if I was a McCain supporter, I would be worried.

Obama Ad : "Steel in his spine"

The Honest Politician Analysis :As we go back to the previous ad from the McCain campaign called "Ladies and Gentleman", McCain had previously made an attack on Obama that the young president will be tested and possibly generate a crisis with foreign leaders. Of course the McCain ad was misleading as it left out the most important part of the audio, which was "They're going to find this guy's got steel in his spine." as per Biden describing Obama. The ad then refocuses back to McCain and reminding people that McCain is "erratic" (against Obama's "steady hand") and linking him to Bush, painting McCain as "the risk we can't afford to take. Even with the fact's laid out on the table (where the Pentagon had confirmed that Biden's statement was right), the McCain campaign are "still" continuing to use Biden's words as a negative attack against Obama. Does the McCain camp really think we are that stupid? Does the American people really need a leader who has a bad temper that could potentially put our nation at risk? Don't get upset about it...Just Vote!

Obama Ad : "New Subject"

The Honest Politician Analysis : This 30 second national ad released by Obama calls out the McCain campaign for it's recent misleading negative attacks against Obama's policies and character. The ad focuses on the facts that McCain is "Out of ideas. Out of touch and running out of time," the ad says of John McCain. "But with no plan to lift our economy up, John McCain wants to tear Barack Obama down with scare tactics and smears. Why? McCain's own campaign admits that if the election is about the economy, he's going to lose. But as Americans lose their jobs, homes, and savings, it's time for a president who will change the economy, not change the subject." In my opinion, this is a great ad from Obama advising America not to be afraid of these negative "political scare tactics" that the McCain campaign has been imposing and to refocus on how Obama can "change the economy" around and not to "change the subject" on the core concern of what's on every American's mind.

The Honest Politician Analysis : This is not a TV ad from the Obama Campaign, but recently found this circulating through out cyberspace. This funny but sadly true ad revolves on the big question that every one is asking "is there really a difference between John McCain and George Bush in regards to their policies?". This question was asked to Republican senators Roy Blunt, George Stephanopolous, Lindsay Graham, Liz Cheney, Mark Sanford and John Kyl. All were stumped and either unable to answer the question or dodged it. It's quite clear that McCain will push the same policies as Bush since he not only agreed with him 90% of the time, but also has the same advisers as Bush....I don't know about you, but I'm scared to death if we have another Bush in office! Bush will be going down in history as the worst president ever placed in office. We don't need McCain to follow his foot steps and where 'we the people' pay the price for their mistakes again- 8 years was enough.... Watch the ad...It's quite funny. Then go vote!

The Honest Politician Analysis : This two minute ad from Obama begins by asking the American people,"will our country be better off four years from now? " Then he describes a detailed plan of how he will lift our economy and restore America's place in the world. In my opinion, this is a great ad as this 2 minute ad outlines in detail of a workable plan that the American people can relate to and expect from an Obama presidency.

McCain Ad : "Ladies and Gentlemen"

The Honest Politician Analysis : This McCain ad focuses on a voice recorded gaffe and out of context comment made by Joe Biden on October 19th. Biden's statement was that Obama will be tested within six months in office with a series of frightening shots of terrorists and hostile foreign leaders. Once this was released to the GOP, they had a field day - since the polls show that the American people feel that McCain has more experience with foreign policy. But looking at the the big picture, Obama is more accepted by the world than McCain and will be able to create peace and not war. In my opinion, Biden needs to watch his words very carefully for the next 11 days or can be labeled as a liability like Palin is to Mccain. UPDATE 10/27/08 : As per the Pentagon chairman of a key Pentagon advisory panel, they are sounding a similar warning, telling the next administration to "prepare for a likely first-270-days crisis." - This proves that Biden WAS RIGHT for his previous statements and was showing leadership by acting proactively. So this statement from the Pentagon may have has saved Biden this time, but Biden should still watch his words carefully for the next 8 days....

McCain Ad : "I am Joe"

The Honest Politician Analysis : This web ad created by the McCain campaign focuses on the "average Joe" - like me and you...the middle class. This ad has multiple segments with ordinary people with ordinary occupations, either saying "I am Joe" or providing their personal opinion of why they are voting for John McCain and Sarah Palin... In my my opinion, this was the best ad that McCain has released throughout his whole campaign. Reason? 100% of McCains ads have been negative and this is the 1st positive ad that has been released. Unfortunately though, the whole "Joe the Plumber" strategy is going down the drain as the polls show the "analogy" is wearing out with voters. If McCain plans to gain "any" ground, he will need to change the strategy to view jobs and the economy - and to leave Joe alone.

Honest Politician Analysis : Aired only within the keystates, this ad from McCain campaign continues to use the "Joe The Plumber" analogy to explain baseless attacks on Obama that his policies are socialistic, bad for the economic times and destined to raise taxes on small business owners. It's funny how they are continuing to use this analogy, because polls have shown that no one cares about "Joe the Plumber" anymore and it's not helping their campaign. It seems that it's a long lasting trend that the McCain campaign has been doing - continuing a failed strategy, continuing a failed economic plan and continuing failed proposed policies (Iraq war as an example). Also, in regards to Obama supposedly being socialistic, doesn't the $700 Billion bailout where the government owns a high percentage in the banks Socialistic? Obama's remarks does not even equivalate to the "actions" of the republican party in the last month. Never mind the ignorance they had portrayed towards to the economy. I think it's best that in the next 2 weeks the McCain campaign really "think" about the consequences before they attack....Because as it seems from the time this race started, all their attacks have been backfiring...

This economic policy provides an "incentive" to ship jobs overseas. McCain however has no agenda of changing this, even though this strategy along with many other old policies will continue to deteriorate the economy.

The Honest Politician Analysis : This ad provided by fightthesmears.com gives a clear message that the automated calls made by the McCain/Palin campaign are very annoying to the American households and are providing false content. This is by far the worst type of advertising, hence the reason why the US has created "do not call lists" to protect peoples private time at home. This method has also been noticed by the GOP as an ineffective strategy and may be retracting it, but it's too soon to tell at this time.

The Honest Politician Analysis : This Obama ad quotes a recent Wall Street Journal article where Douglas Holtz Eakin(McCain's economic advisor) admits to a reporter that McCain's reform could "result in cuts of $1.3 trillion over 10 years" to Medicaid and Medicare. McCain's campaign - which puts that figure at $882 billion for Medicare alone (information extracted from the Center for American Progress). In this ad, the Obama campaign uses several shots of distressed seniors to send the 'real' message to the seniors that are struggling today under Bush's current plan, which will get worse with McCain's plan.

I'm shaking my head once again on this tax issue- and it really proves that the republicans will continue to deny that Obama will be providing a tax cut to 95% of Americans and only taxing the remaining 5% who make over $250,000...Their whole message here is a flat out lie to the American people that Obama is raising taxes and again is just another page from the Republicans/Bush campaign 'devilish' handbook ..So let's lay out the facts - shall we...Fact #1: Sam the unlicensed contractor makes $40,000 a year, and he is not a plumber but does contract work around this town Fact# 2: Sam is NOT opening up his own business and even his own boss was surprised to hear that Sam could or would do that, because the guy is unlicensed AND Fact# 3: Joe/Sam did not pay taxes for 2007, and, there is a lean and judgment against him. The Honest Politician Analysis : As a post debate ad, this ad explains how McCain is truly the "same" as Bush. With an agreement that McCain is physically not Bush, it explains the following : "But you did vote with Bush 90% of the time," goes the script. "Tax breaks for big corporations and the wealthy. But almost nothing for the middle class -- same as Bush. Keep spending ten billion a month in Iraq while our own economy struggles -- same as Bush. I found this ad pretty entertaining as it included all the agitating body language that McCain was portraying throughout the debate, proving his angered temperament.

The Honest Politician Analysis : As of this morning, McCain has released a one minute ad trying to convince voters that he is disappointed about Washington and has always been distancing himself from the unpopular president, George W Bush. Coincidently Obama has also released a new ad reminding voters that John McCain is no different than Bush. Obama explains with his facts once again, that McCain has agreed with Bush's policies 90% of the time and is responsible for the crises that we are in today. Wasn't it the "same" McCain that said "that the economy was fundamentally sound" one week before the crisis? Doesn’t ‘sound’ like good judgment to me. I really believe McCain will have a hard time convincing Americans that he is no different, seeing that he has been riding Bush's coat tails for 8 years.

The Honest Politician Analysis: This Obama ad hits back at McCain/Palin over using Ayers and other fear tactics as a distration from the ugly global economic situation. The McCain campaign made it crystal clear of their upcoming strategy when they specifically said "If we keep talking about the economy(which is on everyone's minds) we're going to lose". Since McCain has no credible economic plan, he and his campaign go on the attack to try to discredit Obama's character. In the ad it gives another example of how McCain is using the same old politics as Bush (fear mongering) and the same failed policies (hence why we are in an economic crisis). With the week to reflect on, their strategy failed and have placed them lower in the polls.

The Honest Politician Analysis : This video seeks to link Obama to ACORN(an embattled community group facing allegations of voter registration violations in several battleground states), and accuses the group of engaging practices at the heart of the nation's current financial troubles. ACORN president Maude Hurd said in a statement. "If John McCain thinks that community organizers caused the foreclosure crisis, he knows even less about the economy than previously thought." This is still under investigation, but seeing that the McCain campaign has "cried wolf" so many times with false accusations, it's hard to tell when their information is credible. I highly doubt that Obama is directly linked with this group and knew of their activities. His lead over McCain shows no reason, nor any merit for his involvement with Acorn's illegal activities. Again this is another attempt to smear Obama's character.

The Honest Politician Analysis : This 30 second video combines allegations that Obama had ties with Bill Ayers and his effort to de-regulate sub-prime loans. As stated above with the "Ayers Ad", this is a false statement. Obama does not have an ongoing relationship with Ayers and factcheck.org proves it. As for the loans, this is not credible either. If anyone knows the "real" McCain - they would know that McCain was well known as a DE-REGULATOR for everything. Hence why we have problems with the economy today.

The Honest Politician Analysis : In an effort to tie Obama to the Weather Underground activist Bill Ayers, the McCain campaign questions their opponents judgment as a leader. What they are not telling you is that Bill Ayers had committed his crimes when Obama was only 8 years old. Bill Ayers is a professor of education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, with whom Barack served on the board of an education-reform organization in the mid-1990’s. According to the Associated Press(AP), they are not close: “No evidence shows they were “pals” or even close when they worked on community boards years ago. Factcheck.org also confirms this attack/ad as false : "There is no indication that Ayers and Obama are now "palling around," or that they have had an ongoing relationship in the past three years. Also, there is nothing to suggest that Ayers is now involved in terrorist activity or that other Obama associates are." Unfortunately this ad as well as the campaigns held promoting this false statement by McCain/Palin are producing rage, fear and violent remarks during their campaign. Recently, there was a woman was asked why she did not like Obama. Her answer - "He is Arab"...This proves that the McCain campaign is sending the false message they want, but unfortunately creating "divide" and prejudice. The McCain campaign needs to immediately reverse this message to it's people as it could cause security concerns for Obama - especially on a false statement.

The Honest Politician Analysis : Obama creates an ad with statements underlining the amount of Carolina mill plants closed which was a consequence to many jobs lost. This also details that American flags(as an example) that should be created within the USofA but are "outsourced" to Asia since there are tax breaks for shipping jobs overseas. These statements are facts as per factcheck.org, also if you notice that each statement has a footnote displayed on the bottom of the ad advising of where the information came from. Very credible ad.

Omama Ad : "Taketh"

The Honest Politician Analysis : By using clips from the 2nd presidential debate, Obama hits McCain on his health care plan advising Americans that they will be taxed. This has been the talk with CNN (Anderson 360) and MSNBC and has confirmed that this will be the case. Factcheck.org also confirms this as true. This is a true example that McCain “doesn’t get it”.

McCain Ad : "Folks"

The Honest Politician Analysis : In 2007 the National Journal(a nonpartisan Washington-based newspaper) ranked Obama the most liberal senator on Jan. 31, 2008. Obama however missed one-third of the 99 votes the Journal used in its 2007 ranking; his campaign for president already was in full swing that year. The Journal ranked Obama the 16th-most liberal for his votes in 2005 and the 10th-most liberal in 2006. Meanwhile, McCain was not ranked in 2007 because the National Journal said he missed too many votes to make his ranking meaningful. Also when the ad used the quote "They're not telling the truth", it was not directed to the National Journal, but to a Mccain/Palin ad. This one of course will fall in the same category as not true - false - not even misleading. Expect this for another 26 days from the McCain camp.

The Honest Politician Analysis : This ad from McCain is trying to convince viewers that Obama camp are creating ads that are misleading. Surprisingly, the example used within the ad advising that McCain will be placing voters Social Security on the stock market is false(as per factcheck.org). But what I find ironic is that the McCain camp has the audacity calling him a liar, meanwhile 70% of McCain's campaign stumps and tv spots are either lies or misleading. McCain voters, please be warned.

Obama Ad: The Subject

The Honest Politician Analysis : This Obama ad accuses McCain of changing the subject from the "real issue" which is the economy. It also quotes of what was said from a republican that "if we keep talking about the economic crisis, we're going to lose". The ad also advises that McCain is out of ideas and out of touch. This statement and ad is true. McCain is behind the polls and only looking to bash Obama in character to hopefully swing voters his way. The only time that McCain has mentioned the economy (in detail of what he going to do) was during the 2nd debate advising voters that he will take over bad mortgages (which would cost tax payer more money in the end)...So for the past week McCain has tried to throw negative ads to Obama with no success. Obama still leads and the lead will continue to grow as long as McCain has no plan for the economy which is on every American's mind. As Chris Matthews says from MSNBC : "It's the economy stupid!"

The Honest Politician Says : The Keating scandal is quite similar to today's credit crisis, where a lack of regulation and relationships between Congress and the financial industry has allowed banks to provide risky loans and profit by bending the rules. During the late 80's to early 90's, John McCain was accused of improperly aiding his political pal, Charles Keating, chairman of the Lincoln Savings and Loan Association. McCain was known to be one of the "Keating Five" — five U.S. senators investigated over accusations they tried to interfere with a federal investigation of Keating's role in the savings-and-loan's collapse. When the savings and loan industry collapsed, Keating's failed company put taxpayers on the hook for $3.4 billion and more than 20,000 Americans lost their savings. John McCain was reprimanded by the Senate Ethics Committee, but the actual cost of the crisis to American taxpayers reached more than $120 billion. It seems that John McCain did not learn from his previous mistakes and is a major blow to the campaign as we currently face a financial crisis.
